How will the storybooks help my students?
The statutory spelling words in the national curriculum are a constant challenge for educators. The difficulties are twofold: children can struggle to master the spelling of the words and they also often lack understanding of their meaning. Spellbound Storybooks solve those problems. They:

expose children to the words in context

enthuse children with their amusing plots, lovable characters and hilarious pictures

provide a fun and meaningful springboard for discussion about the spelling and definition of the words

include a range of suggested spelling strategies to help children practise and master the spellings

include a range of suggested writing activities that provide an opportunity for children to use the words in their own writing

The matching spelling/grammar and reading comprehension workbooks provide further exposure to and practice of the spellings.

How can I use them with my class/tutor group?
1) Look at the front cover and read the blurb. Ask the children to predict how the story will unfold.
2) Read and enjoy the story. Use the matching reading comprehension workbook to further explore the story (optional).
3) Complete the suggested follow-up spelling activities. Use the matching spelling/grammar workbook to further practise the spellings and grammar from the story (recommended).
4) Complete the suggested follow-up writing activities

The e-book (pdf digital storybook) can be displayed on an interactive whiteboard, tablet, laptop or similar device and read and enjoyed together. A printable pdf version is also included for you to print and share with students. The spelling words are not marked in bold in the KS2 printable versions, therefore allowing children to follow the story and highlight them as they read.
