About Spellbound Storybooks

About the stories

There are so many spelling schemes, apps and games on the market and yet so many children still struggle with spelling. Even if children do master how to spell a word, many still cannot use it in the correct context within their writing.

Isn't it time we tried something different?

Spellbound Storybooks transform the national curriculum spelling words into fun and engaging stories. The stories provide a fabulous stimulus to help children learn the spelling and meaning of the words. Unlike most spelling resources, they provide purpose and context to spelling practice rather than learning words in isolation.

  • Curriculum spelling words marked in bold throughout the story

  • Hilarious plot ancharacters

  • Colourful and amusing pictures

  • Written to include curriculum grammar features eg. fronted adverbials, conjunctions

  • Suggested follow-up activities allow children to further practise and use the words in their own writing

  • Available as e-books or paperbacks

  • Matching spelling/grammar and reading workbooks available

Spelling Mosaics

Spellbound Storybooks's printable spelling mosaics are perfect to encourage and help children practise the national curriculum spelling words!

Children colour the squares in the mosaic according to how many syllables or how many vowels the word has to reveal a hidden picture!

The syllable mosaics require children to split the word into its syllables which can be a highly effective method of learning how to spell a word. The vowel mosaics require children to count how many vowels the word has which encourages them to look closely at each letter in the word and for any letter patterns. Children also need to look carefully in each mosaic for any incorrect spellings because they have a colour of their own!

About me

Helen Swan author spellbound storybooks

I am a supply teacher, private tutor and educational content writer with over ten years of expertise. From experience, I know how challenging spelling is for many children. As a supply teacher, I visit various different schools and have taught from many different spelling schemes. In most schools I have visited however, spelling remains an issue.

I have written and created these resources as an enjoyable and educational solution!

I hope you and the children enjoy them!

Helen
